Bride

Groom

Bride and Groom
Designated photo helper:
It's often super helpful if you can nominate an family member/friend/bridesmaid to help arrange and corral the people for the above photos and to help keep things as smooth and quick as possible on the day.
Ideally someone in the bride/grooms party who knows most of the key people and someone happy to shout and bring people together!
Often I'll reach out to them before the wedding to say hello and make sure they've got a copy of a list of the images we need.
If you could list the ideal candidate here and also their phone numbers - that would be great!

I highly recommend setting aside plenty of time for bridal, groom and family photography prior to the ceremony.
This starts the story and starts the photography when everyone is looking their very best and full of emotion before the day’s events begin.
I recommend at least 15 mins for bridal photography and 10 mins for the groom.

When I arrive to the bride getting ready location if it is not at the actual Wedding Location,
Ideally, hair and makeup should be just about wrapping up when I arrive leaving about 20-30 minutes for detail shots (makeup and hair touch ups) before the wedding dress is put on.
This will leave a good 20-30mins for  me to go right into Detail shots at the Wedding Venue when we arrive.
I typically start the day with the Bridal details, such as:
Brides Dress, Veil, Shoes,  Bouquet, Something Old Something New, Borrowed and Something Blue, any Special Jewelry, Garter.
His and Her Rings, His Cuff links, Tie,/Bow Tie, Shoes, Watch.
I normally ask for this all to be in one location at the very beginning of the day so I can get to work.

Once Details are complete, I move into some fun shots of the Bridesmaids and the Bride before she puts on her dress. (I recommend all bridesmaids to be complete in hair and make up and ready to put on their dresses after this)
The Bride then will  be putting on her dress and all of her details. I always ask for bridesmaids to be putting on their dresses as the Maid or Matron of honor will help with some of the photos. The Mother of the Bride is asked as well to be dressed and present to help the Bride get into her dress and allow for some special memories to be captured.

After the Bride is complete in all details, I move to the Groomsmen in taking some shot of them getting ready in some detail shots as well as candids. The Groom at this time will also be gearing up for his own detail photos as he dresses as well as some group shots with his dad  (dressed) and best men.
Before I start the Grooms photos all will need to have boutonnieres on.
The Groom will have his photos done first and then I add in Groomsmen. I ask that the Grooms Mom and Dad be close to move into a couple of photos with their son before sending them off to a closed location to where I can start with the Bride.

Once the Groom and his men are tucked away, I grab the Bride for some Bridal shots and then add in the Ladies. (Ladies, please have your bouquets ready and in hand at this time.) I ask that the Brides Mom and Dad be close to move into a couple of photos with their daughter before sending them off.

This is normally how all of my Wedding Days start off. The rest is scheduled around what the couple has decided on doing with their
LOOK.

Have you considered doing a first look? A “first look” is when the bride and groom see each other prior to the wedding ceremony either privately or surrounded by family and friends. It is a wonderful time to capture some true moments of joy and emotion as well as allowing much of the portrait photography to be done prior to the ceremony. A lot of my wedding day couples say that it provides a time to calm nerves and to just reassure each other in love. They also mention having a moment to themselves in seeing each other allows for a different emotion and memory of the Bride walking down the aisle. This earlier moment in no way takes away the freezing of time when the Brides eyes lock with her groom and is walking down to say she's his forever in the ceremony.
This also allows you both to be freed up for your cocktail hour and reception.

Family formals are an important part of documenting your wedding day and are usually done either prior to the ceremony (in the event of a first look or reveal) or, more traditionally, done after the ceremony. I recommend completing the family formals prior to the ceremony when everyone is looking their best and are available otherwise immediately after the ceremony. After the ceremony is often a very chaotic time as your guest will be offering their congratulations and heading off to cocktail hour/reception.
If you wish to have your family formals done after the ceremony please inform your Family and Extended Family to be photographed that this is the plan and to hang back on location.

Other Family and Friends photos will be taken during the reception time.

Photos:
Obviously it is your day, and I will do my best to get all the photos you want, but keep in mind that even with the best ushering in the world it can still take 4-5 minutes to find and arrange a group of people for a photo - so try keep the numbers of shots small - no more than 5 or 6 is ideal.
